Fun Facts About Hole In One’s

Here at American Hole In One, we’re crazy about the #HoleInOne. It’s in our name! In our appreciation of this rare and notable feat, we’ve scoured the web to share some fun facts about them. Some of them are well-known, and others not so much.

Hole In Ones on the PGA Tour

According to Michael Benzie of PGA.com, professional golfers Robert Allenby and Hal Sutton are the all-time leaders on the PGA Tour with 10 aces each.  That’s incredible!  Fan favorite Phil Mickelson has recorded 5, with Tiger and Jack close behind with 3 and 2, respectively.

Good At Any Age

We found an article on GolfLink.com written by John Lindell.  In it, he tells us that 101-year-old Harold Stilson made a Hole In One in May of 2001, making him the oldest man to ever make one.  However, Elsie McLean scored an ace in 2007, and although it leaves Harold with the record for men, she is now the oldest person to have ever made a Hole In One!

Good to Know

Our good friends at American Hole-In-One Registry also have some fascinating facts about the achievement posted on their website (www.nationalholeinoneregistry.com).  Here are a few of them:

  1. The average ace-maker has 24 years of experience playing golf!
  2. A golfer sinking a Hole In One has an average handicap of 14.
  3. 50-59 year olds make up the age group with the highest percentage of Hole In Ones (25%), with the 40-49ers coming in a close 2ndat 24%.
  4. 16% of Hole In Ones are made by women.
